Award of the Degree

Under the R23 scheme, students pursuing a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree must adhere to specific guidelines for the award of their degree. They are required to complete a course of study lasting between four to eight academic years. However, students availing the gap year facility have the option to extend their duration of study by two years beyond the maximum permissible period for graduation, totaling a maximum of eight years. During this period, students must register for and successfully secure a total of 160 credits.

Honors Option

Additionally, students have the opportunity to pursue an honors track alongside their B.Tech. program. To qualify for an honors degree, students need to fulfill all the requisites of a B.Tech. program, including registering for an additional 15 credits on top of the standard 160 credits. Registering for honors is optional, and the honors track must be completed simultaneously with the regular B.Tech. program.

Admissions Criteria

Admission to the B.Tech. program is subject to eligibility, qualifications, and specializations prescribed by the A.P. State Government/University. Admissions are typically based on the merit rank obtained by students in the common entrance examination conducted by the A.P. Government/University or any other approved order of merit. Reservation policies prescribed by the Government/University also apply during the admission process.

Program Structure

The undergraduate program (B.Tech.) is structured into various categories, each contributing to the overall credit requirements. These categories include Humanities and Social Science, Basic Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Professional Core, Electives (Professional and Open), Domain Specific Skill Enhancement Courses, Internships, and Project work.

Attendance Requirements

Attendance is a crucial aspect of academic performance and progression. Students must maintain a minimum of 40% attendance in each subject and 75% aggregate attendance across all subjects. Condonation of attendance shortage is permissible up to 10% in aggregate, subject to a stipulated fee. Failure to meet attendance requirements may result in consequences such as ineligibility for end examinations or cancellation of registration.

Promotion Rules and Grading

Promotion from one academic year to the next is contingent upon meeting both attendance and academic requirements. The grading system follows a 10-point Absolute Grading System, with corresponding letter grades and grade points assigned based on the range of marks obtained. Class awards are determined by the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) secured by students upon completion of the program.

Lateral Entry Scheme

For students admitted into the B.Tech. program through the Lateral Entry Scheme in the second year, similar regulations apply with adjustments made to the duration of study and credit requirements.
